With a heart full of grace and a passport full of stamps, Charlene Hoffmeister, 73, set sail one final time—this time into eternity—on August 08, 2025. She’s now reunited with her beloved husband and first mate, Rick Hoffmeister, who’s been waiting patiently since 2017 to welcome her home.
Charlene lived a life that was anything but ordinary. A globe-trotter with a generous soul, she explored nearly every corner of the world, but her heart always anchored at Compass Cay, Bahamas. It was there, aboard their boat, that she and Rick spent many sun-kissed years together—laughing, loving, and living the dream. She made one last visit in July 2025 with her family, soaking in the turquoise waters and treasured memories.
Back on land, Charlene’s spirit shone brightly in her community. At Palm View First Baptist Church, she was a joyful presence. She was a member of the Praise Team, Senior Saints committee, finance committee, search committee, back up Sunday School teacher, assisted with the food pantry, in the church office, children’s camp counselor and Vacation Bible School programs. She was also on the Board of Directors for North River Care Pregnancy Center, and a volunteer since its inception in 2002. She gave her time freely and lovingly. If something needed doing, Charlene was already there—smiling, sleeves rolled up, ready to serve.
She was the kind of woman who made you feel like family, whether you were or not. Her hugs were warm, her laughter contagious, and her faith unwavering.
Charlene is now reunited with her parents, Jackie and Tom Cambre, and her husband Rick. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service, carried forward by her son and daughter-in-law, John “JP” and Kellie Hoffmeister; her brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Mary Cambre, Richard and Tammy Cambre; her granddaughters Vanessa and Emma Hoffmeister; her brother-in-law Edward Hoffmeister; and a joyful crowd of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Her life was a beautiful melody—one of adventure, kindness, and devotion. And though the final verse has been sung way too soon, the echoes of her love will linger in every heart she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 22nd at 6pm at Palm View First Baptist Church located at 415 49th St E, Palmetto, FL 34221.
If you wish to make a donation on Charlene’s behalf, please send to North River Care at 1020 10th Ave W, Ste 100, Palmetto, FL 34221. Please include a note that it is in Memory of Charlene Hoffmeister.
