Charles Gary Mays, 71, passed away on February 9, 2015. He was born in Sarasota, FL and moved to Palmetto, FL in 1995. Gary proudly served in the US Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, Gary worked at GTE/Verizon for 43 years. He began enjoying his retirement in 2011, Gary loved to travel and was fortunate enough to take many vacation trips all over the world. He enjoyed his motorhome and getting away and relaxing. He is survived by his loving wife, Jolene. He is also survived by his four children, Chuck Mays of Harrisonburg, VA, Wendy Mays of New York City, Bill Poirier of Tampa, FL and Patti Poirier of Palmetto, FL. Grandchildren, Travis Poirier of Clearwater, FL, Jordan Brady of Palmetto, FL and Zachary Poirier of Tampa, FL. Visitation will be of Saturday, Feb. 21 at 10 am at Groover Funeral Home at 1400 36th Ave. E, Ellenton, FL. A funeral service will follow at 11am.
