Cynthia King Wardell

Born on September 8th, 1949, to John and Constance Newcomb in Jacksonville, IL. Cindy lived a life defined by love, generosity, and strength. She spent more than 20 years working as an Assistant General Manager for Gaunt, Inc on Holmes Beach. She loved being involved with the Church of the Annunciation as a Vestry Member next to her mother on Anna Maria Island, and her years volunteering at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Cindy was known for her warm smile, her kind eyes, her gentle spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel at home. She loved gardening, and spending time with her grandson, who brought her endless joy. Her kindness touched many lives, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Cindy is survived by her daughter Melissa Wardell of Bradenton, FL; her grandson, James Wardell (Maria) of Bradenton, FL; her niece Sherry Luria (Dave) of Sarasota, FL; her nephew Clay Newcomb of Bushnell, FL, her great-nieces and nephews – Luke, Ivy, Tanner, Raihna (Daniel), Laursen and Clayborne, and many beloved family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Constance Newcomb; her twin brother, John “Jack” Newcomb, and her husband, James Anthony Ross.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held on June 19th, 2026, at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park 1400 36th Avenue East, Ellenton, FL 34222. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. We welcome you to wear bright colors in honor of her love for them.
