

F. Ruth McDonald 95 of Palmetto, Florida, passed away peacefully Saturday Dec. 12th at home. Born in Manatee County to John D. McDonald of Alabama and Annie L. (Hudson) McDonald of Florida, and was the 7th of 12 children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palmetto, where she had taught children's Bible classes for many years. Ruth retired from Publix Supermarkets bakery at age 89 after 33 years of faithful service. Though she no children of her own, she helped to raise many nieces, nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren. Because of her care and devotion she is viewed as not just an aunt, but a mother, grand-mother and great grand-mother. She is survived by one sister, Lola (McDonald) Cannon of Palmetto, and a sister-in-law Georgia McDonald also of Palmetto. She was lovingly cared for and tended to by Christopher Walker (great nephew). She will be missed but not forgotten as her sense of humor, lessons taught and acts of kindness will remain with those who took the time to get to know, love, and cherish her. There will be a visitation on Monday December 21, 2015 at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, FL.
