Herbert Joseph Schindler

Herbert (Herb) Schindler was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Jess and Catherine (Herbert) Schindler. He graduated from Lakewood High School and joined the Army Air Force. When the war ended, he met and married Winifred (Winnie) Engle. He attended Fenn College (now Cleveland State) and began a career in sales selling flexible packaging. He loved his job, and did not retire until he was 70 years old.

Herb is survived by his wife of 68 years, Winnie, and his children, Jeanne Schultz (Doug), Carolyn Cohn (Marty), Cathi Girardot (Don), Jim Schindler (Cherl), Tom Schindler (Beth), and Pat Irvine (Rick). He also leaves 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Mary Gillam and Janet Bochin. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pat McGraw and Beth Walsh.

Herb was a member of River Wilderness Country Club where he loved to play golf and he and Winnie had dinner regularly with friends. He also loved travelling and taking cruises with his family.

There will be a memorial Mass on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Frances X Cabrini Church followed by a reception at the River Wilderness Clubhouse.
