Obituary of John E Molloy
JOHN EDWARD MOLLOY, 83, of Bradenton, Florida, passed on to his eternal home on May 6, 2022. John was born on January 14, 1939 in Bethel, Ohio. He was the only son of Charles Albert Molloy and Helen Jean (Strickland) Molloy. John attended Western Hills High School, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he earned the nickname "Easy Ed." In high school he received numerous scholastic awards and was a member of Triginta Optimi Fraternity, graduating in 1957. John went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1962. While studying at UC he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He also co-opted at Delco Products, General Motors Corporation, Dayton, Ohio. John later received his Master of Business Administration degree in 1966 from the University of Dayton. During his time at Delco Products, John participated in the initial stages of Computer Systems Analytics. He discovered this was his passion, and the field he wanted to pursue. During his 43-year career, he designed and coded computer systems and programs in COBOL and Fortran. John continued his career with Delco Products Corp, Cole-Layer-Trumble Co, NCR, and EDS. On July 9, 1966, John and Martha (Marti) Louise Imhoff were joined together in marriage at Central Presbyterian Church in Kettering, Ohio. Last July they celebrated 55 years together. They have one daughter, Diana Charlene (Molloy) VanDerNoord. John was a devoted husband and father. The family spent summers traveling together. They attended high school football games, marching band competitions, along with many family events. John was a devoted Christian. Both he and Marti were longtime members of Far Hills Baptist Church, in Kettering, Ohio. John served as a deacon and was involved in mission projects and Sunday school programs. Through Far Hills, John participated in a bowling league for many years. He and Marti enjoyed their time and friendships developed at the church. In his early years of retirement, John was a school bus driver in Centerville, Ohio. In 2002 he & Marti moved to Bradenton, Florida, where he soon began working with his son-in-law at VanDerNoord Realty as a Field Coordinator. John became a member of First Baptist Church of Palmetto, Florida, where he volunteered in his free time. Following in his dad's footsteps, John developed a keen interest in charting the stock market. However, his greatest passion was for his family. He rarely missed a sporting event or music performance of one of his grandchildren. He helped with school projects and tutored in calculus. John was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jean Molloy. He is survived by his wife Martha, daughter Diana and her husband Peter VanDerNoord of Bradenton, Florida; and four grandchildren Harrison, William, Matthew, and Kate VanDerNoord. Arrangements are with Groover Funeral Home, Ellenton, Florida.
