Jose Antonio Colon Vega

Jose Antonio Colon-Vega, gained his wings on June 28th, 2025 at the age of 53 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital after a short term illness. His funeral service will be held next Saturday at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park.

Jose was born on November 27th, 1971 in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico to Jose Antonio Colon Sr. and Crucita Vega-Collazo. He gained a certification to become an Air Conditioner Technician, HVACR and graduated with his GED both from Manatee Technical Institute. Jose fell in love with his high school sweetheart Monica Lopez. They raised 4 beautiful children. Jose was always very hard working and always provided the best for his family. He always wanted the best for his kids and his family and always put others before himself. In his spare time Jose would enjoy spending time with family and anticipating the next New York Giants game to come on the screen. Jose was a man of GOD and always walked by faith.

Remaining to cherish Jose’s memory are his life time partner, Monica Lopez, his 4 kids, Jose Antonio Colon III, Julisa Colon, Yesenia Colon, and Jailene Colon. Both parents, Jose Antonio Colon Sr. and Crucita Vega-Collazo. His brother, Juan Miguel Colon and Sister, Sandy Cruz. Including all of his beloved family and friends.

A visitation for Jose will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222. A visitation will occur Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222.
