Joseph Wiley Metcalf

Joseph Wiley Metcalf, age 79, (originally of) Palmetto, FL left this earthly realm on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Joe is survived by his overly-patient and accepting wife Debbie, who was the love of his life for 54 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Tricia (Trish) Metcalf and son Joseph W. Metcalf, Jr.; brother, Donald Metcalf and wife Becky; brother, Thomas Metcalf and wife Bonnie, children Amanda and Carrie;, grandchildren: Evan Francis Metcalf and Austin Wyatt Metcalf. He was raised by his late parents Arthur Paul and Lillian Mixon Metcalf, business owners of Met’s Auto Parts in Palmetto, FL.

Joe graduated from Palmetto High School in 1964 Palmetto, FL. He attended, Trevecca Nazarene University, in Nashville, TN where he met the love of his life, Debbie. Joe and Debbie wed in the Winter of 1972. Joe then went back into the service of the United States Air Force and was an active Veteran in the Viet Nam War.

He retired from the Ford Company mainly in Fleet Sales, he enjoyed creating and maintaining relationships with his clients. Loved going out seeing his farming clients and visiting new and old small businesses. Always happy to make someone’s day.

He enjoyed many things, those things were hunting, fishing, shooting guns, The History Channel, western movies, laughing with his brothers about old stories and above all spending time with his entire family during Christmas including his late Father and his beloved Step-Mother Donna, late Step-Brother Keith and wife Gloria, children Michelle and Cheryl and Step-Sister Robin and late husband Robert, children Jessica, Ericka and Joey.

For Joe’s many other adventures with his Cousin Sandy at Jiggs Landing, Bradenton, FL, the Late Uncle Jiggs and Aunt Agnes Metcalf. Fishing and visiting with his cousin including Jadie Metcalf.

Joe’s faith in God never wavered as he was a man of prayer and loved gospel music every night. He led his family by example and attended church services regularly when in good health. Jesus Christ was his foundation and he blessed his family for being a strength to them each and every day.

Tremendous and heartfelt thanks go to his dear friend and longtime Dr. Raymond Raitz. His Cancer Dr. Miguel Pelayo , of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, who kept him with us for longer than we expected. Those at Plantation dialysis who provided constant care during difficult times. To our dear friends who kept our lives in order Ricardo and Caralena Crespo. To Manatee Memorial during Hospice Care for a peaceful and compassionate environment during his transition from this life to the next. Most of all we Thank God for his strength and the prayers of all our friends.
