Laut E. Zipperer passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 97 years of age. He was in Greenbrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center convalescing from a fall earlier in the month. Mr. Zipperer was born on August 7, 1921 in Jennings, Florida near the Florida Georgia border of I-75.
The Zipperer family migrated to the United States from Austria/Germany in the late 1750’s. They and other “Saulsbergers” first settled in Ebenezer near Savannah, Georgia.
Laut called Bradenton his home having lived and worked here in excess of 40 years. He was a religious man who retired and found solace in his savior and solitude in the peace and quiet of his home. He lived alone and was self-sufficient until his recent accident.
Mr. Zipperer was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Franklin Zipperer, his mother, Sara Addie Kirkland Zipperer, his brother Herd Young Zipperer, his sister Elise Zipperer Franklin, and husband Herman Franklin, step brothers and step sisters; and nephew James Franklin and wife Sara.
Survivors include niece, Hilda Pitts and family, Ovida Wright, Robbin Wright, Alvin Touchton, and Tony Touchton (deceased), niece Betty Franklin and son Ellis Dees; Great niece Annette Franklin, Rhonda Spradley, Cheryl McLennan, Darlene Comacho; Nephew Richard F. Zipperer and his wife Vicki, Great nephews Gregory R. Zipperer and Jeffery R. Zipperer, his wife Susan and children Madeline, Reed and Lily.
Laut will be laid to rest beside his mother, Sara Addie Zipperer in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery Perry, Florida, a graveside service will be held at a date to be determined.
