Born to Alford and Rachel Corley on March 4th, 1942 in Dothan, Alabama, Lyn was the 8th of their 9 children. At age 10 his family moved to Palmetto, FL which became Lyn’s lifelong home.
Lyn was predeceased by his loving wife, Susan Tyler Corley who he was married to since August 29th, 1985 and his stepson, Alan Matthews, as well as all 4 of his brothers and 3 of his 4 sisters. He is survived by his son, Mark Corley of Bradenton, FL and stepson, Michael Matthews of Palmetto, FL as well as 3 grandsons; Christopher Matthews, Jared Corley, and Justin Corley, all of Bradenton, FL, a granddaughter, Stacey Custer of San Diego, CA, a great grandson, Bryson Hopkins and a sister, Lou Corley, of Lawtey, FL as well as numerous other family members, friends and neighbors.
Graduating from Palmetto High School in 1962 Lyn would forever be a Palmetto Tiger in spirit. He would go on to honor our country by serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Cam Rahn Bay. He worked for Manatee County Utilities for over 30 years, climbing his way up from the bottom and retiring as a supervisor, second in charge of Manatee County Waterworks.
His love for oldies rock and roll music was only surpassed by the profound love he had for his family and friends who will miss him dearly, but are comforted in knowing he is in Heaven with Jesus, his beloved wife Sue, and all his many family members and friends who have been waiting there for him.
There will be a graveside service at noon on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222. Lyn’s loving wife, Sue, will be interred with him at that time. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Easterseals.
