Marcia Elaine Kaszuba (née Corliss), 74, of Parrish, Florida, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on the evening of Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Marcia was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and spent the majority of her life in Hamilton, Massachusetts, where she built the home and the memories that would define her family for generations. In 2002, she and her husband began a new chapter, moving to Parrish, Florida, where she remained until her passing.
Marcia's life changed forever on a blind date on Friday the 13th, when she met Julian "Sonny" Kaszuba Jr. Their first date was a Celtics double-header at the Boston Garden — a fitting start for a marriage built on showing up for each other, through good times and long overtime stretches alike. Sonny and Marcia went on to build a life and a family together, one rooted in devotion, laughter, and an unshakable partnership that lasted 54 years — just a week and a half shy of 55.
Marcia spent her professional life working as a banker, but it was her time outside of work where her spirit truly came alive. Her craft room was non-negotiable in every home she ever lived in, and there wasn't a craft she didn't try at least once. She had a gift for pulling Sonny into her latest project, whether it was glass tumbling or woodworking, turning hobbies into shared adventures. In her later years, she found deep joy in knitting, ultimately creating hundreds of hats that she donated to homeless shelters so that strangers she would never meet could feel a little more warmth on cold days. Her faith was central to who she was. She went on several church mission trips with Heather and Scott when they were in high school, instilling in them a heart for service that she carried her whole life, and she remained an active and beloved member of her church's women's Bible study.
Above all, Marcia was a nurturer — spunky, quick with a laugh, and endlessly generous with her time and her heart. She would do anything for the people she loved, and honestly, for most people she didn't even know yet. She knew her own mind and was never shy about sharing it, a trait that kept life around her interesting and kept everyone honest. As a young woman, she formed an extraordinarily close bond with her grandmother, Martha Corliss, visiting her every single day for the last several years of Martha's life so that Martha would never feel alone — a quiet, daily act of love that speaks volumes about Marcia's character.
That same devotion showed itself in her strength. Marcia was a fighter through and through. She battled and beat breast cancer in 2002, and in the months before her passing, she fought with everything she had. Those who cared for her in her final days remarked on her resilience — a fitting final chapter for a woman who never stopped showing up for the people and causes she loved.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Julian "Sonny" Kaszuba Jr.; her daughter, Heather Weston, and son-in-law, Erik Weston, of Tampa, Florida; her son, Scott Kaszuba, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Kaszuba, of Wilmington, Massachusetts; her three grandsons, Tyler Kaszuba, Alex Kaszuba, and Shane Weston, who brought her tremendous joy; her siblings, Phil Corliss and Twink Miller; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kip Corliss and Sally Stratton; her brother, Bob Corliss; and her grandparents, Clifford and Martha Corliss.
A celebration of Marcia's life will be held at a future date, to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marcia's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), in support of research toward a disease that touched her family's life.
Marcia leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and quiet strength — a woman who showed her love through hand-knit hats, daily visits, craft-room projects, and a fierce devotion to everyone lucky enough to call her family or friend. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
