Marlayne Riggs Peterson, a lifelong resident of Manatee County passed away from a short illness on June 9, 2020 at the age of 72. Marlayne was born on September 14, 1947 to the late Walter and Elinor Riggs. She was preceded in death by her son Richard (Ricky) Peterson, her grandson Ryan Peterson and her brother Aubrey "Butch" Riggs. She is survived by her daughters, Christi (Mike) Marx and Kathy (David) Allen, as well as her “extra child” Kim Boyd, her grandchildren Amber (Gregg) Richards, Josh Waldron, Andrew Waldron, Carrie (Sam) Byram, Devon Peterson, Cheyenne (Matt) Carpenter, Jason Peterson and Lawton Marx; great grandchildren Carson, Kaydence, Johnathon, Sadie, Ashlynn and Isaac; two brothers, Richard (Nancy) Riggs and Paul (Nancy) Riggs, one sister, Melissa (Pete) Langdon and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Marlayne proudly served in the US Army. She always had a friendly smile for anyone. She enjoyed crafts, spending time with her family and watching Hallmark Channel, old westerns and cop shows. She loved cooking and would cook anything for anyone. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be laid to rest in a private burial. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL
