Roger Delano Lofgren passed away on April 30, 2024.
He was born in Rockford Illinois on May 12, 1934 to the late Willard and Olga Lofgren.
He was a graduate of East Rockford High School and a member of the Banchees Hot Rod Club. He loved to race his 1932 roadster and snowmobiles. He also raced his speed boat (Lil Scamp) on the Rock River and water skied.
Roger married his love, Sharlot Hayenga, on August 20, 1960. He owned his own mechanic shop, Lofgren’s Auto Service, in Rockford Illinois.
He built engines for everything, cars, boats, dragsters and snowmobiles. He rode motorcycles. He raised Arabian horses for show in Byron Illinois. He moved to Florida in 1982 and settled in Ellenton Florida in 1984 and he would haul race boats around the country, anywhere from California to New York. He was always busy working on something but never too busy to help someone out.
Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments.
Roger did scuba diving with his son and granddaughter. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren on camping trips or taking the family out on his boat. One of his favorite things to do was having the family get together for cookouts and just swim in the pool.
