

Ronald L. Zicherman, affectionately known as Ron, passed away in Bradenton, Florida, on June 14, 2025, his 80th birthday. Born on June 14, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, Ron was the beloved son of the late Arnold and Jean Kaplan Zicherman.
Ron grew up in New Jersey, developing strong friendships that lasted a lifetime. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1963, alongside his lifelong best friend Mark Lipton (wife Maureen). Ron and Mark treasured their friendship across decades, sharing many memories and milestones.
Committed to service and his country, Ron proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1967 at Fort Ord, California. He carried this dedication and devotion to service into his professional career, working for over 30 years at the Essex County Courthouse in Newark, New Jersey. Known among colleagues for his dependability, honesty, and good humor, Ron was admired and respected by all who knew him.
Love and family were the backbones of Ron’s life. He found great joy in his nearly 30-year marriage to his cherished wife, Carole M. (Skelton) Zicherman. Married on July 1st, 1995, their life together was a partnership filled with affection, laughter, family, and mutual support.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife Carole, his brother Barry Zicherman (Sandra),loving daughter Jennifer Zicherman, and his beloved daughter Cheryl Callaghan (Gerard); as well as four sons, Thomas Kane (Patrice), Michael Kane (Dawn), Brian Kane, and Daniel Kane (Christa). He was an extremely proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren—Bobby (Suzanne), Ashley (John), Caitlin (Chad), Thomas, JJ, Sean (Sam), Lyndsay, Lauren, Alexa, Brittany, Breanna (Alex), Sarah, Becca, Gary (Betty), Erica (Brian), Danny (Cheyanne), and TJ—and was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren whom he absolutely adored.
Beyond family, Ron loved horses and horse racing, finding excitement and joy in the pursuit. Automobiles fascinated him throughout his life, as did his love for watching football, following the daily news, and the stock market. Ron’s presence created memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those closest to him.
Ron also held a generous spirit and commitment toward helping those in need. He was a dedicated volunteer at the Church of Hope Palmetto Food Pantry, eagerly assisting families with graciousness, compassion, and humility. His selflessness exemplified how meaningful action could positively influence the lives of many.
Ronald L. Zicherman will be remembered as a kind, compassionate husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and example to our family. His unwavering dedication to his loved ones created a strong legacy of family values, generosity, and kindness.
His warmth, sincerity, and passion for life have left indelible impressions on all who knew him. Although deeply missed, Ron's enduring spirit and influence will remain alive in every cherished memory shared by the family and friends fortunate enough to have known him.
A celebration of life for Ronald will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Church of Hope, 1701 10th St W, Palmetto, FL 34221. Following the celebration of life will be a committal service at 12:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave E, Ellenton, FL 34222.
