Thomas (Tom) Edward Bradley, 83, of Parrish, passed away at home Wednesday, September 28, 2022, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family. Born in Manhattan, NY, Tom was the son of the late Thomas Francis and Emily Schwind Bradley. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a Quartermaster and Engineman. In October 1959 Tom transferred to the United States Air Force where he was an Electrical Power Production Technician on missile launch sites, and the Texas Towers radar sites. In August 1966 Tom then transferred to the United States Army to become a Warrant Officer, for 18 years with three tours in Vietnam as a Chief Engineer aboard a 65 ft tug boat and a 178 ft Y-Tanker. Tom finished his military career at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 and the Chief Harborcraft Master. Upon retiring, Tom worked for Burns and Roe Services Corp as a Project Manager/Coordinator until October 1995. Tom was a life long Catholic who served his country, his family and his community. He was a Lay Eucharistic Minister at St. David’s Catholic Church and volunteered in the Military community, including service as the President of the Texas Towers Association.
Tom was preceded in death by his brothers Johnny and Jimmy Bradley. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rose Marie. He was the proud father of Thomas C. Bradley (Spouse: Susan) of Parrish, FL, LTC(R) Michael J. Bradley, U.S. Army (Spouse: Julie) of New Windsor, NY, and daughter Ann Marie Pedersen (Spouse: LTC(R) Steven, U.S. Army) of Tampa, FL. He was also a loving grandfather to Kayla Bradley, Leslie (Bradley) Kavanagh, Seth Bradley, Thomas (TJ) Bradley, Cory Bradley and Kai Pedersen, and great grandfather to Kiera Bradley, Mason Bradley and Madelyn Bradley. He was also a loving brother to Lorraine (Bradley) Conklin.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Frances X Cabrini, 12001 69th St. E, Parrish on Tuesday October 11, 2022 at 1 PM with a visitation at Groover Funeral Home 1400 36th Ave E Ellenton from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday October 11, 2022.
The Burial will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
