

Thomas was born November 29, 1944 in Smrdaky, Trnava - Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia) to Thomas and Alojzia (Janicki) Stepanovsky.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Thomas and Alojzia “Halina”, and his infant brother Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Nerina (Jackson) Stepanovsky, his sister Alina Butler of Bluemont, Virginia, and brother Dominic “Nick” Stepanovsky of Port Orange, Florida. His 3 children, Janet (Matt) Treadway of Marion, Ohio; Rachael (Joel) Brooks of Graham, North Carolina; Patrick (Johnelle) Stepanovsky of Nashport, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Thomas’ family came to America on Memorial Day, May 30, 1949. While he received derived citizenship upon his parents’ immigration, he chose to become a Naturalized Citizen in 1960 to demonstrate his commitment and love to the United States.
Thomas graduated from St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, Ohio and Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He worked alongside his father and brother in the family business, Tri-Village Stucco and with his mother and grandmother at the family restaurant, The Delikatesa restaurant in Upper Arlington.
Thomas honorably served his country for many years. He began his military career in the United States Air Force in July 1963 as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Repairman Tech; serving 2 tours in Southeast Asia, until May 1970. His service continued in the United States Army; beginning in September 1982 and concluding in April of 1992 as a Master Sergeant.
Upon his retirement, Thomas continued serving his community while working or volunteering with The Wounded Warrior Project, AAA Auto Club South, and serving on the Board of Directors of Neighborly Care Network in Pinellas County for 16 years. He was a member of St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church. Thomas also was a volunteer EMT with the Parrish Volunteer Fire Department and served as Lab Coordinator for St. Petersburg College EMS Program.
He was a good and honorable man who will be missed by many.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Francis X Cabrini Church, 12001 69th St E, Parrish, FL 34219. A committal service will occur Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
