

Virginia was born on February 25, 1930 and spent her childhood and adult life in Palmetto, Ellenton and lastly, Parrish. She and her beloved husband Blake were married in 1953 in Palmetto. They raised a family of five children. Virginia was the consummate Mother, devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was unfailing in her support and care of her family. Her generous and loving nature brought her many dear friends throughout her life, and she will be greatly missed by all. Virginia and Blake together attended Palm View First Baptist Church for well over fifty years. The church was as much their home as the place they laid their heads at night.
Virginia is predeceased by her Mother and Father, Edith and William Cox. She is also predeceased by her much loved sister Betty Ann, who passed in 2011. Virginia is survived by her husband Blake and her children and their spouses: Bob Whisenant (Lucila), Mary de Greef (Jaap), Priscilla Trace (Craig), Peter Whisenant and Daniel Whisenant (Candi). She is also survived by her grandchildren Blake Trace, Willem de Greef (Crystal), Nelie Boehle (Chris), Kristina Whisenant, Emily Whisenant and Chase Turner. Surviving Great-Grandchildren are Rowan de Greef, Juniper de Greef and Scarlett Turner.
Services will be held at Palm View First Baptist Church, 415 49th Street East, Palmetto, Florida on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Visiting and Viewing will be from 11:00am–1:00pm with the service beginning at 1:00. The burial will follow at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginia’s memory to Palm View Baptist Church or Tidewell Hospice would be welcome.
