William Jay Applegate

It is with heavy hearts and a wealth of fond memories that we announce the passing of Bill Applegate, a man whose life was defined by his devotion to his family and his legendary sense of humor.

​Bill was, above all else, a family man. Known for his quick wit and infectious spirit, he loved to make people laugh. Whether it was a perfectly timed joke or a playful story, he had a unique gift for brightening any room he entered. He believed that life was better when shared with a smile, and he made it his mission to ensure those around him were always enjoying the moment.

​Bill’s greatest legacy is the family he loved so dearly. He was a loving husband to his wife, Melissa, and a dedicated father who took immense pride in his children. Perhaps his favorite role of all, however, was that of "Paw Paw." To his grandchildren, he was a source of endless fun and the kind of unconditional love that leaves a lasting mark on the heart.

​He is survived by his wife, Melissa; his children, Ashley (husband Nigel), Katelyn (husband JJ), Greg, and Matt (wife Nikki); and his cherished grandchildren, Nigel Jr., Niellie, Nilajay, Jasmine, Skylar, Camden, and Maddy. He also leaves behind his sister, L'Oriel; his niece, Thierry; and his nephews, JayDon and Jace.

​Beyond his immediate family, Bill will be fondly remembered by an abundance of extended family members and dear friends whose lives he touched in his own special way.

​His presence will be deeply missed, but his laughter will echo in the stories told by all those who knew him.
