Bill was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. to the late William V. and Mary Crusselle. He was the first baby born in 1950 in Hamilton County. Six months later the family moved to Jacksonville, Fla. Blessed with the opportunity to grow up in Lakewood, the family was active in the San Jose Baptist Church and his faith in the Lord was an important part of the rest of his life. After graduating from Wolfson HS he attended Florida State University. While at FSU he became active in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he developed relationships that have lasted a lifetime. He also began to play the game of Rugby which he played for the next 13 years. During this time he played on numerous All-Star teams in the Southeastern US and was also elected as President of the Florida Rugby Union and later the Georgia Rugby Union where he was able to have an impact on the growth of the sport. In 2019 Bill was inducted into the Florida State University Rugby Hall of Fame. This was then followed in 2023 by his induction into the University of Florida Rugby Hall of Fame.
After graduation Bill taught school and coached football in Tallahassee. With the passing of his mother he moved back to Jacksonville in 1975 where he started a 19 year career in the wine and spirits business that took him to Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, and Houston.
In 1994 he went into the hospitality business working as the CEO /GM of Country Clubs and Resorts throughout the United States. He was diligent and fair and was respected by his peers and those that he worked with on a daily basis. His passion for building relationships and enriching lives enabled him to meet and maintain close friendships that shaped his career. It took him to heights he never imagined as he worked with the NFL, NHL, and had the opportunity to have dinner with two presidents.
This business also allowed him to meet the love of his life, Mary Jane Perry. After spending 3 years in Scottsdale, Az. they returned to Parrish, Fla. and were married in 2010. Here they were blessed to share so many interests in common and live a very happy and productive life together.
Bill loved sports, the outdoors, fishing, golf, and Florida State University. But his greatest love and joy was the Lord, his wife Mary Jane, and his family.
"I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day."
