

William “Herman” Parrish, 86, of Ellenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice. He was born on August 31, 1939, in Parrish, Florida, to the late William and Mildred Parrish.
Herman was a proud graduate of Manatee High School. A true outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing, hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life.
On July 26, 1961, Herman married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Cooke Parrish. Together they shared 64 years of marriage filled with love, faith, and family. Herman was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he cherished every moment spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn; their three children, Shawn Parrish and his wife Teresa, Troy Parrish, and Eric Parrish and his wife Alyssa; grandchildren Samantha Parrish, Josh Parrish, Jessica Parrish, and Austin Parrish and his wife Amanda; and great-granddaughter Leya Parrish. He is also survived by his brother Eddie Parrish and wife Sue, his sister Eleanor Parrish Jones, and his sister-in-law Frances Parrish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Parrish, and his brother Clyde Parrish.
Herman will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his steady strength, and the deep devotion he had to his family. His legacy of love and integrity will live on in all who knew him.
A Viewing will be held at Groover’s Funeral Home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Fortner’s Cemetery on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tidewell Hospice. Condolences may be sent to Groover’s Funeral Home.
