Winfield Yon (Wink)
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning Psalms 30:5
Winfield entered this world on June 20, 1949 in Orangeburg, SC and departed August 7, 2026 in his home in Bradenton, FL. He was greatly known by his nickname Wink.
Lovingly known as the “Gentle Giant” as he was usually the tallest in the room and may seem intimidating at first, but was very kind hearted and had a calm, caring demeanor, a man who was always there when you needed him. He was a devoted son, husband and father whose care extended beyond his own family. He was a very hard working man, loyal and well loved by many. A dad to everyone he encountered, children and adults alike. He retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service to the community as a truck driver with Waste Management. He will be remembered for his smile, unique laugh, loyalty, kind heart, sense of humor, famous phrase “ooo wee” and his always ready to help nature. He touched the hearts and lives of many leaving behind memories and cherished moments that will live on through all that knew him.
Winfield is proceeded in death by his father (Benjamin Yon), mother (Modell Yon, née Perry), three brothers (James Yon, Glen Yon, Bobby Yon)
He leaves behind his wife of 50+ years Jeannette Yon (née Clark). 4 Children, Dewayne, Erica Yon (Kesha), Kyrist Yon Sr., Kira Yon. 12 Grandchildren, Ahmiya Yarn, Kyrist Yon Jr, Ennoncence Yon, Malakai Yon, Ky’Mir Yon, Giovanna Yon, Kyrin Yon, Sier Yon, Karis Yon, Kyrell Yon, Aria-Star Yon, Onesi Yon. A host of nieces and nephews, and several neighborhood kids who knew him as dad throughout the years.
Wink may no longer walk this earth beside us but he will forever be cherished and remembered in our hearts. Let us celebrate the life he lived and the time he spent with us. Let’s keep his memory alive through the way we love each other, remembering the way he loves us.
