Clifford Gene Wilson

November 26, 1944 – April 26, 2025

Clifford Gene Wilson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community servant, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born in Lufkin, Texas, on November 26, 1944, Gene was the son of Clifford Jasper Wilson and Iva Dell Wilson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Gene Wilson.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Martha Wilson; his children Kristine Berry (Rob), Kelly Wilson (Heather), and Jaime Nicholls (Cody); and his brother, Tom Edd Wilson of Chandler. He was a proud grandfather to Adam Uthoff, Kylie Uthoff, Katherine Nicholls, Rebekah Nicholls, and David Nicholls — each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Gene lived in Arizona for 48 years, spending 45 of those years in the city of Eloy, a community he came to love deeply and serve faithfully. He was a passionate advocate for his town and spent many years involved in local civic organizations including the Eloy Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Picacho School Board. His dedication to community service was a defining part of his life.

He retired in 2015 after a distinguished career as the City of Eloy’s Municipal Judge, a role in which he was known for his fairness, humility, and commitment to justice.

Gene’s early years were marked by a love of learning and athletics. He attended Kilgore College, where he played football, and later earned his bachelor's degree in Business and Economics from Stephen F. Austin State University. Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments, Gene loved the outdoors. Hunting, riding horses and spending time in the woods with his dogs were among his greatest passions — it was there he found peace and connection to God’s creation.

Gene Wilson was a man of integrity, service, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of love, leadership, and deep roots in both his family and his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
