OBITUARY

Alex M. Nava

December 13, 1994April 5, 2019

It is with immeasurable sadness that we share with our community the passing of our enigmatic and charismatic son, Alex Nava.

He lost his eight-month long battle with opioid addiction on Friday, April 5, 2019. He had called the Village Park area his home for all of his 24 years. Alex’s smile is what we will remember. He was a light in the world. He was authentic and genuine, with a greeting full of affection, and his smile and goofiness will remain with us.

It is our hope that Alex’s light will help someone find their way through the disease of addiction and stay alive. Some of us will forever remember Alex as he stood outside of his childhood home wearing his favorite boots and Magic Girl costume. And then there were the days he wore nothing at all, except those boots.

Alex leaves behind his mother Lisa, father Antonio, brother Andrew, and sisters Angela Morgan and Ariana. His Nava and Morgan families extend across the U.S. and Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family is graciously accepting donations to contribute to continued expenses, and there will be a one-time donation in Alex’s name to a program to be determined.

Our hearts are broken to hear of Alex’s passing. He played on our Pop Warner football team during his middle school years. Alex always had the most beautiful smile, the kindest heart, and was one of the hardest working players on the team. He was well-liked by all and was always polite and supportive of his teammates and respectful of the coaches and parents. His parents, Lisa and Antonio, and his siblings were always so energetic, kind, and helpful. The whole Nava family was a joy to have as a part of the team. Alex was a special young man and will be greatly missed.
Lisa, Antonio, and family, Please know we’re sending love and prayers of comfort your way. You’re in our thoughts.
With love,
Kevin and Marilyn Wells and family

I knew Alex when he was in high school. Many of his friends affectionately called him “Nava.” Alex always had a touch of rascal in him, and when I would tell him he needed to be at school and on time, he would smile and agree. Alex was polite and respectful, and when I heard he had passed, I cried. So sad to lose him. Thank you for your courage in sharing. May your words be of service to others.

Alex and my son were the BEST of friends. Alex was at my house daily since they were in Elementary school. I remember at their 6th grad. graduation they sang 3 little birds sang by Bob Marly. This song will forever bring back the sweet memories of sweet Nava. I love that kid for being there for my son and for his kindness and hugs! RIP Nava

Love,

Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, (this is my message to you-ou-ou:)

Singin: don't worry bout a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: don't worry (dont worry) bout a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, this is my message to you-ou-ou:

Singin: don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. don't worry!
Singin: don't worry about a thing - I won't worry!
Cause every little thing gonna be all right.

Singin: don't worry about a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right - I won't worry!
Singin: don't worry about a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: don't worry about a thing, oh no!
Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Alex and I met at SAGE retreat. I called myself his other mother. My heart is broken for a family who did everything they could to keep their precious son safe. Alex had a gentle soul. I loved that boys smile. He was well mannered and always so respectful, I told Alex he was well raised. Alex loved his family, he spoke often of their faith and motivation in him. I send comfort to the Nava family, Rest In Peace sweet Alex.

I didn't know Alex beyond middle school. But as a young child, he addressed me always as Miss Patti. I would think, he's so polite. He was the only one ever to greet me like that. Not much of a memory but he always made me smile when he did that.
May the good memories carry you through the tough times of missing him terribly. Love to all of you.
