Harveen “Candy” Hayes, devoted wife of 69 years to Larry Hayes and beloved mother to Sandy, Abbie, Stephanie, Roger, and Sally, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at the age of 92.
A third-generation Californian, Candy will be remembered for her positive personality, quick wit and the spark of life that lit up every room she entered. She was able to talk to anyone, a skill she used regularly while traveling the world with Larry.
Candy was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 35 years, delivering meals with a smile and stories. She cherished her walks along the PCH with her walking group while enjoying her beloved ocean views.
As “Grammie,” she immensely enjoyed all her grandchildren---Joey, Natalie, Lindsey, Chloe, Beckett---as well as her great-granddaughter, Evee. She loved spending her time baking, crafting, reading, crocheting, and sewing. Candy was loved by all who knew her.
A memorial service was held on April 8, 2025, at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, California.
