John James Bostjancic, age 55 years old, passed away on September 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle against brain cancer. He was born on January 2, 1971 in Neptune, NJ.
John was a beloved husband, devoted father, and loyal son. His greatest joy was being among his family and friends. He was most proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was their biggest cheerleader through their academics, sporting games, and careers. He was a devout Catholic; who carried his faith along with his family traditions.
Also known as “Boz”, John was a self-made man. He was an associate lifetime member of Adelphia Fire Company. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Trenton State College (The College of New Jersey) in 1993. John continued on to build a celebrated career in corporate finance, accounting, and operations. In his last eleven years, he served as Chief Financial Officer, as well as Chief Operating Officer. He was known for his positive leadership, solutions oriented intelligence, and relentless work ethic.
John lived life to the fullest. He loved traveling, going to the beach, grilling, and dining out with his family and friends. He enjoyed a strong cup of coffee and a glass of fine red wine. He had an impressive talent of reciting countless movie quotes and sports statistics. He loved rooting for the NY Giants, reading presidential biographies, biking, playing sports, and listening to music. Most of all, he always strived to continuously learn, and “live his best life.”
John is survived by his wife, Ji-Young Lo; his children; Matthew, Jack, James, and Arden Bostjancic; his parents, Frank Sr. and Lanie Bostjancic; brother and family; Frank Jr., Tracy, and Melissa Bostjancic; uncle and aunt; James (deceased) and Doris Bostjancic; cousin and family; Sue, Rick, Jess, and TJ Gordimer. He is also survived by his wife’s family; Clement and Terry Lo; Ji-May, Eric, Lucas, and Iris Jen; Matthew Lo and Jamie Kwon; Ji-Nee, David, Madison, and Daniel Dalton.
Two memorials will be held for John. The first service will be on Sept. 24, 2026 at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home in Freehold, NJ: memorial and open visitation with family from 2:00 - 4:30 pm, followed by eulogies from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. The second service will be on Sept. 30, 2026 at El Camino Memorial in Encinitas, CA; viewing visitation from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, then a Catholic blessing and eulogies from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. The California service will be on livestream.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hospice of the North Coast, University of San Diego: Moores Cancer Center, or the Brain Tumor Network.
John leaves behind a legacy that will live on through his family, and all the lives he has impacted. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
