John Massucco was a man dedicated to doing the right things, in the right ways and for the right reasons. He was an excellent prosecutor and a good friend. Dominick Dugo was supervised by John Massucco at different times in the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. That professional relationship grew into a most dedicated friendship which led Dominick to protect and care for John several times a week for more than three years when John was unable to care for himself. That is the kind of honor and respect that John Massucco inspired. He will be missed by all who knew him well. Brian Michaels

John was a good well-respected prosecutor - fair but tough. I first met him back in the 1970's. He was always someone you could go to in the office to run a case by for advice. Over time he shared many good stories not the least of which was his sitting on his front porch and dealing with coyotes. John served our community and criminal justice system well and with integrity. John -RIP.

I had the pleasure of working with John when I was a law clerk waiting for my bar results. We worked together on child molest cases, and I found his gruff personality endearing rather than concerning, although I did see him toss a waste can down the hall once when he was unhappy! When I was in my final interview for a prosecutor position after passing the bar, John banged on the door and said, "Hurry up and hire her! I need her in court!"
I will always treasure having known John and send my warmest regards and love to his friends and family.

I first met John in 1972 when he brought home a herd of sheep and released them to graze in his backyard. The children were elated!
John was innovative, kind hearted, adventuresome, dedicated to his work and someone I will be for ever grateful for the privilege of knowing. He exemplified the epitome of a nobel man.
My sincerest condolences to family and special friends of John Massucco.
