Marion was raised in Detroit, Michigan, before relocating to San Diego with her parents. She was a gentle person with a kind yet resolute spirit, seeking independence and rarely complaining. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, particularly her love of horses, old westerns like Bonanza, word puzzles, and her favorite foods: cheeseburgers (hold the tomatoes but not the ketchup), pizza, and shrimp. Her faith remained an important part of her life, attending Mass regularly. Although she faced challenges, Marion continued to take comfort in her daily routines, including her participation in the Starlight (Arc) program. During her many years with the day program, she formed meaningful connections with longtime staff member Elma and with many others who became an important part of her life.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Marion was blessed to be cared for by her loving found family, Josie, Jesse, and Mark DeJesus, who she lived with for 29 years, and housemates, most recently Stephanie. Marion is survived by the DeJesus’, niece Bridget Moran-McCabe (Katie), nephew Daniel Moran (Jessica), greatnephew Quinn and cousins spanning the United States. Marion is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Margaret and Arthur; her sister, Margaret; and her brother-in-law, Jim.
Marion will be cremated and interred with her parents at Holy Cross cemetery: 4470 Hilltop Dr, San Diego, CA 92102. May she rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon her.
