Phyllis Minaya June 16, 1934-September 19, 2022 Phyllis Minaya, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2022. Phyllis was born in Middletown, Connecticut and lived most of her adult life in Los Angeles, where she raised her three daughters with her beloved husband Alfred. Phyllis was a very spiritual woman and devout Catholic. Phyllis received her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and worked as a social worker, realtor and homemaker. After Al’s retirement, Phyllis and Al moved to the Ocean Hills community in Oceanside, California, where they spent their golden years. After Al’s passing, Phyllis moved to Glendale Garden Care home in Glendale, California to be closer to family. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred Peter Minaya, her parents, Saul and Rose Oster and her brother, Morton Ostrovitz. She is survived by her children, Anna Minaya LaNave (Gregory), Gloria Minaya (Susan Balsam); and Linda Minaya Tansey (Tim); grandchildren, Lucia LaNave, Dominic LaNave, Antonio LaNave and Vincent LaNave; Zachariah Tansey; Nikolas Tansey and Julie Tansey. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the love and care of the staff at Glendale Garden, especially Irene, Violet, Paulette, Delilah and Lyn as well as her Oceanside Caregivers, Flor, Terri and Melba. Funeral mass will be at 11am on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1450 S. Melrose Drive, Oceanside, California 92056, with burial next to her husband Al at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, California. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas More Building Completion Fund 1450 S. Melrose Drive, Oceanside, California 92056
