Richard Edward Moore

Richard was born on October 15, 1937, in Phoenix, Arizona, to James and Katherine Moore. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1959 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He worked briefly for General Electric before proudly serving in the U.S. Navy for almost five years. In the Navy, he was trained as a pilot and eventually assigned to the VA-52 attack squadron known as the Knight Riders.  His squadron was called into action during the Gulf of Tonkin incident.  After his honorable discharge, he joined American Airlines and enjoyed a 32-year career there.

Dick was married to his beloved wife, Nancy Moore, for 67 years. Together they raised three daughters: Karen Morris, Pamela Reifeiss, and Jeannette Shields (and her spouse Tyler). He was a proud grandfather to Katie, Kelsey, Tracey, Kerry, Megan, Brett, Connor, and Aidan, and a loving great-grandfather to Oliver, Emmett, Harvey, Rowan, and Hallie. He is also survived by his siblings, Harriette Underwood and John Moore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother James.

Dick was known for his wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He loved golf, flying planes, and travel, and he filled his life with these passions while cherishing time with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled on a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Naval Aviation Museum in Dick’s honor.
