Robert Stanley Green Sr., known to all as Bob, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 92. Born the youngest of nine children on May 16, 1934, in Pennsylvania, Bob built a long, full life alongside his late wife of 62 years, Lydia Armida Green. Their journey together eventually brought them to Encinitas, California, where Bob spent his later years surrounded by family, sunshine, and the ocean he and Armida cherished so deeply.
A proud United States Air Force veteran, Bob carried his military service with him throughout his life. His years in uniform shaped his character—instilling in him a profound love of country, a disciplined spirit, and a sense of duty that never wavered. These values became the foundation of the life he built and the example he set.
Bob was a man defined by toughness, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to his principles. Guided by his Catholic faith, he lived with discipline, clarity, and a steadfast moral compass. He faced challenges head on, stood firm in what he believed, and taught his family the enduring importance of resilience, integrity, and faith.
He is survived by his six children—Grace Carlson, Patricia Nelson, Robert Green Jr., Lisa Green, Anthony Green, and Mary Green - each of whom carries forward a part of his strength and spirit. He is also survived by his sons in law Keith Carlson and Mike Nelson, and Katie Knudson, the life partner of his daughter Lisa—each of whom held a meaningful place in his family’s life.
Bob’s legacy continues through his fourteen grandchildren, David Patterson (Bianca), Kevin Patterson (Nicole), Claire Carlson, Caroline Carlson, Lauren Bachmann (Johnny), Keith Gaines, Stephen Gaines, Jonathan Green, Robert Green III, Ryan Green, Warren Green, Wyatt Green, Danielle Stob and Johnny Stob; eight great grandchildren, Ali, Conor, Kasey (Zach), Austin, Justin, Ella, Zoe, and Johnny and one great great grandchild, ZJ, who will remember him for his love, steady presence, his example of perseverance, and the pride he took in each of them.
He leaves behind a family shaped by his determination, his patriotism, and his faith.
Bob will be deeply missed and forever honored.
