Ron passed away on December 22, 2018 joining his beloved wife Barbara in heaven. He was a Devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grand-father, great grand father, friend, partner and neighbor.
Ron always put his family first. No matter how hard he worked- and he worked very hard. He always had time for his beautiful wife and four children. Ron loved nature and the outdoors- camping, fishing, backpacking were great pastimes. He loved to travel especially to the island of Kauai where his Sister and Brother in law lived with their four children.
Ron had the warmest personality and a tender heart. He was a gentleman, kind hearted and soft spoken. Always cheerful, Ron looked at the bright side of life. His uplifting and positive attitude showed in his wonderful and infectious smile; accented by his smiley bright “Irish eyes” always sparkling.
Ron was Born: September 25, 1930 in Edina, Minnesota. As a teenager he Moved with his mother and sister to Seattle, Washington where he enlisted in the Navy and was sent to Korea on an aircraft carrier. Ron worked on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier.
After Ron received an honorable discharge, he enrolled at the University of Washington where he studied Industrial Design. Ron was very artistic and talented with his hands and mind. First he was an excellent drawer and draftsman. He was often drawing, sketching ideas out on napkins. Second, He was a very accomplished wood craftsman and model maker. Ron loved making sculptures in many forms particularly with clay, wood and wire. These skills would help Ron later with model making in his product design business.
On a double-date, Ron met the love of his life- Barbara Ann Bratanovich. Shortly thereafter the couple were married. They were inseparable and remained married for 65 years.
Ron received a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Washington and was soon employed at Boeing Aircraft.
As Ron’s creative juices soared, he realized that he needed to start his own business. Ron Started his own Product Design business out of his garage. As his product design business grew, Ron helped start up a second business- a computer furniture business there after…..He started several other businesses including a plastic factory which continues to be operated today by his son Koby and Grandson Bryan Loosen.
Ron is survived by his four children Scott Loosen, Koby Loosen, Andrea Loosen and Tracy Loosen, five grandchildren and a great grand daughter. The family will have a private ceremony on January 16, 2019 at El Camino Memorial.
