Susan Hinchliff Sterner

She was born in Boston, Massachusetts where her mother and father met at Harvard University. Susan lived in Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and San Francisco during her youth and young adulthood. She settled in Escondido in 1973 after a short marriage to William Sterner. She was active with her friends, the La Jolla Playhouse, and good music. She made new friends everywhere she traveled throughout her lifetime. Susan enjoyed her beautiful home in Escondido that she shared with her adult daughter, Gillian. She took good care of the home and garden as it had a special place in her heart given it had been her beloved mother, Nancy Hinchliff’s home.

Susan was predeceased in death by her parents, Nancy Dewire Hinchliff, William Emerson Hinchliff, and her younger brother, Jonathan Gray Hinchliff. She is survived by her daughter, Gillian Sterner. As well as brother Peter Hinchliff, sister –in- law, Gaye Hinchliff, sister-in –law Karen Hinchliff. She has two nephews, Cody Hinchliff and Gregory Hinchliff, and one niece, Caroline Hinchliff.

A celebration of Life will take place at the home of Gillian Sterner in June of 2025.
