

William Francis Golden, lovingly known to all as Bill, passed away on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born on December 18, 1936, in Steubenville, Ohio to Mary and Charles Golden, Bill lived a life defined by kindness, laughter, dedication, and a love for caring for others.
Bill was raised in Weirton, West Virginia, where he developed the strong values and hardworking spirit that would guide him throughout his life. Bill graduated from Shepherds College, then later moved to California, where he built both a successful career and a beautiful family life. Bill worked for Hewlett-Packard for 37 years, taking great pride in his work and the many friendships and connections he made throughout his career.
While working in North Hollywood, Bill met the love of his life, Susan, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, devotion, teamwork and cherished memories. Together they made their home in Poway where they lived for 38 years and became treasured members of the community. After leaving Poway, Bill and Sue resided at La Vida Del Mar in Solana Beach, where they continued to create meaningful connections and lasting friendships with those around them.
Bill was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane; his children, Brian, Matt, Mark, and Marcy; his grandchildren, Samantha and William; and his great-grandchild, Arlee. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in instilling family values and character within the core family.
Bill’s interests were as wide as his generous heart. He was an avid golfer, a passionate sports fan, and a lifelong coach and mentor to many. Whether on the field, on the golf course, or simply sharing stories and jokes with friends, Bill had a special gift for bringing people together. He found true happiness in helping others, offering encouragement, and making people laugh. His warmth, humor, and selflessness touched countless lives.
Bill will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for his compassion, unwavering dedication to family and community, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be announced to close family and friends in the near future.
