Norm was born in Englewood of two pioneer families on January 8, 1937. His mother’s family, the Anderson’s, settled in the Englewood area in the late 1880’s. The Davids’ arrived in Englewood in the early 1990’s.
Norm began commercial fishing with his father, Ashleigh, at a very young age. He followed his father’s footsteps and continued fishing until he entered the Air Force in 1959.
After the Air Force, he began working at Venice-Nokomis Bank, where he met his wife, Carol.
Norm also loved sports. He coached Carol’s softball team, practiced ball with his daughter, Christine, and played Fast Pitch Softball. His pitch was clocked at over 100 MPH!
His special place was always on the water. He eventually purchased a 38’ vessel named The Mimae. He chartered fishing trips for many years before dementia set in.
