Born in Colver, PA. Grew up in Northwest IN. Portage High School graduate of 1965. U.S. Army Veteran. Retired to FL after 30 years of service with Midwest Steel in IN. Member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (FL) and previously Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church (IN).
Survived by: his wife of 52 years, Nikki of Englewood, FL; daughters Tina (Bret) Storey and Bridgette (Joshua) Marshall; grandpup Max, all of IN; Brother Joe Swab; and several family members in FL and IN.
Preceded in death by: parents Michael and Verona Swab; brothers Michael Swab Jr. and John (Emma) Swab; in-laws Nick and Nelle Malinoff; and pups Muffy and Bella.
Bernie was a true gearhead with a passion for muscle cars. He took pride in all of his cars whether building, restoring, maintaining, or driving them. He enjoyed drag racing, car shows, boating, fishing and his retirement in FL.
Bernie will be dearly missed by his loving family and will forever be in their hearts.

A family gathering for friends will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service starting at 2:00 pm at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood.
