Born in 1965 in Kingston, NY, he is the son of the late John and Loretta Wrinn. Dan graduated from Alexandria Central School in Alexandria Bay, NY and attended college at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY. For the past 15 years, Dan was a successful salesman for Lawson Industries, Inc., where he was affectionately known by his customers as “Dan, Dan the Window Man”.
Dan was a devoted father to his son Max. The two were avid sports fans who enjoyed taking road-trips together to watch their favorite professional sports teams play. When not attending live sporting events, they liked to spend their Sunday afternoons lounging in their recliners, watching sports, throwing the football, and eating shrimp cocktail and steaks off Dan’s infamous tv trays.
Dan had a passion for writing and recording music. He wrote a romantic love song for his fiancé Patsy that melted her heart (although her kids Caitlin and Jack will tell you it was funny and corny). He also recorded a compilation of songs, in his makeshift studio, that he playfully titled “Songs from the Recliner”; but Dan truly came alive when he was performing for an audience. He played with numerous groups throughout Upstate New York and Florida, including Liquid Courage Band, Category 5 and his most recent project, Ragged and Rusty. His fans will remember him for his rocking guitar solos, boisterous attitude, and mischievous grin.
“People are here for my entertainment” was one of Dan’s favorite sayings. Though those who knew Dan will tell you that, while he got a kick out of needling people, it was all in good fun. He had a heart of gold and loved to make people laugh. His presence will be missed by all who were close to him.
Dan is survived by his son Maxston Wrinn of Orlando, FL, fiancé Patricia Ely of Port Charlotte, FL, and two stepchildren Caitlin and Jack of Alexandria Bay, NY; three siblings Steven J. Wrinn, his wife Denise and their daughter Kathleen of Homer, NY, Christopher J. Wrinn, his wife Suzan and their son Michael of Clifton Park, NY, and Maryann M. Wrinn of Herkimer, NY. He is also survived by many lifelong friends and bandmates.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2021 in Alexandria Bay, NY. Further details will be provided at a later date.
