Douglas Curtis Englewood, FL - Douglas C Curtis, age 78 of Englewood, FL, passed away Friday, January 8th, 2021. He’s survived by his wife, Lane, and his three children, Jim Curtis, Tim Curtis (Diane), and Kelly Hood. He’s also survived by his brother, Kurt Curtis (Nancy), sisters, Kathy Crump (Chuck) and Jackie Hering (Tim), eight Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
Doug was the epitome of a family man. His marriage of 55 years to Lane Curtis was a wonderful example of true love. Together they raised three children. Doug was a very proud parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. He deeply loved his family and was an inspiration to many.
Doug spent many years working around the country, and world, in retail and liquidation. In more recent years, he was a local business owner (Mike Douglass Plumbing), a very active member of the local community, and Vice Chair of Charlotte County Republican Executive Committee. He enjoyed his Saturday morning radio show where he interviewed many friends, business owners, politicians, and community organizers. He was also a member of the Englewood United Methodist Church.
We will all miss him terribly; however, we know that he is standing in Heaven, looking down on all of us, and saying, “Yeah, Baby!”
A memorial service, with limited seating due to Covid, will be held at the Englewood United Methodist Church on January 30th at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a live stream available at englewoodumc.net/watch/. Immediately afterwards, there will be a Celebration of Life at The Hills Golf and Country Club in Rotonda.
Nine years ago, his niece, and angel, Julie Crump, blessed him with a Kidney transplant which extended his life incredibly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution to the American Kidney Fund, in Memorial of Doug Curtis.
