Ian R Goldsmith 81, formerly of Cortland, OH, now dwells in the house of the
Lord forever Psalm 23, on March 2, 2021, in Englewood, FL. He was born in
Newark, NJ and when he was a baby the family moved to Shaker Heights,
OH, where he graduated from SHHS in 1957. After graduating he enlisted in
the National Guard until June 1968 Honorable Discharge.
He is survived by his wife, Caro(Lyn) L Goldsmith aka Pooh: daughters
Melinda Sue Goldsmith of Banbridge, OH, Ricki Lyn Howey, his favorite son-
in-law Jamie Howey of Medina, OH, and son aka sidekick, Robert S Todor of
Winston Salem, NC. He also leaves five grandchildren, Emma M Todor,
Hannah M. Todor, Amanda L Howey aka the Brain, Samuel G Sell aka the
Diamond man ,and Stanley R Sell aka little Ian. He was preceded in death by
his parents Marvin and Annette Goldsmith, and a brother Gary M. Goldsmith.
Ian aka Ace in the industry, had a long successful career in the Jewelry
Business. Starting at age 10, with his Dad in Ashland, OH, and from there to
his own store, The Goldsmith Shoppe, in Chagrin Falls OH until 1983. Jerry
Shaw owner of Sterling Inc. , called to offer him a position in his company,
starting as manager at LeRoy's in Niles OH to Regional Vice President where
he had sixty-three stores under his umbrella until 2000. Mike Kranich called
him with an opportunity with his company, Kranich's Jewelers in Altoona, Pa ,
where he wore many hats and was honored as being the only non family
member given the title of Vice President of Operations until his retirement in
2013.
Ian asked,Jesus Christ to be Lord of his life, his Messiah, on June 27th, 1985,
and after that his life was a sober one, and blessed one, where each day
began with PRAY! LISTEN! LOVE! and, ended with a grateful heart of
thank you Lord, and 'sealed with a loving kiss to Pooh.
He was a founding member of Maranatha Church founded in Cortland, OH in
1987, where he served as, Treasure, Chairman of the Founders Board and
Executive Board until moving to Florida for his sunset years in 2018 until the
present. In Florida he worshipped at Foundation Church, 3385 S. Access Rd,
Englewood FL. where he was praying for a larger building his wishes would
be any donations be sent to Foundation Church building fund, in his memory.
