Jean Bliven Dexheimer, 80, Englewood, Florida went to be with our lord and savior on August 2, 2019 while surrounded by her family and canine companion, Mason.

Jean was born on January 4, 1939. She was a 1956 graduate from Oxford Academy Central School. On September 28, 1958 she wed David Dexheimer of Guilford, New York.

Jean spent 12 years at Bainbridge-Guilford School District working as office support staff. She enjoyed her work and especially relished meeting the students as they grew older, while keeping her young. Throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with friends & family, traveling, golfing, gardening, playing cards & bowling. She was also an active member of Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood, FL where she especially enjoyed organizing the annual rummage sale and singing in the choir.

Above all, her major life goal was to see her children and grandchildren happy and content. She brought joy to all who crossed her path. She was a funny, strong & very independent person. She wanted to give friends and family a happier, lighter moment in their lives as they brought pleasure to hers. She loved so many and was loved back by even more.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Tom (Corinna) Dexheimer of Riverview, Florida and Doug Dexheimer of Bainbridge, NY; Grandchildren, Sarah Dexheimer of Sidney, NY and Tyler (Amanda) Dexheimer of Mount Upton, NY, Megan Pedro, Ali Pedro, Heather Frey & Jon Meara; Great-grandchild, Jordyn Marie; mother to her grandchildren, Chris Dexheimer of Sidney, NY; canine companion, Mason & her two dearest friends, Anne Mott of Bainbridge, NY & Doris Crook of Englewood, FL.

Jean is predeceased by her parents, Ward & Evelyn (Guller) Bliven; late husband, David Dexheimer & grandson David Swartz.

In lieu of flowers, Jean requested donations be made to Guilford Fire Department or Englewood United Methodist Church. Also, in memory of Jean and her love for people, she asks that you be the sprinkles on each other’s ice cream- take a friend lunch, breakfast or dinner or just share your favorite drink together; have a gab fest or take a trip together. Leave a generous tip; pay for an unsuspecting person’s meal or movie ticket. Spread kindness and smile to make everyone’s world brighter.

A celebration of life will be held at Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood, Florida on Friday, August 9th at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. A second celebration of life will be held at the Sundown Golf Course in Guilford, New York on Sunday, August 18th at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.

The family of Jean would like to take a second to send a big thank you to Tidewell Hospice House for providing peace and comfort for Jean throughout her remaining days.

What a beautiful and fitting obituary for a wonderful woman and neighbor. I was so sorry to hear (just today, 8/18) that she had passed and so wished I could attend her NY celebration of life...but I had another commitment.
Sending condolences to Tom, Doug, their ladies, and all the grandies and great-grandies of this delightful woman. She will be missed!

Jean was my cousin so I have known her my whole life. More importantly, she was a person I admired and respected so very much. Jean’s love for her boys Doug and Tom and her grandchildren knew no bounds. Jean and I played golf together many times and she always beat me but we always had a great time. I truly hope there is an ice cream store in heaven equal to the one in Englewood. She so loved it there. I will miss you so much , Cousin Jean

Jean was such a nice lady and a great person to live by (Merchant St, Guilford). Sh was missed when she moved. I have fond memories of visiting with her when walking down the road. I think of her every time I pass the old wooden student desk I bought from her. She loved when I told her my kids actually sat at it to color.

I am sure you all have great memories and I hope they bring you comfort during this sad time:

God Bless! Dawn & Bob Falciani

Oh my GodMommy, how I will miss you! You were like another Mother to me, or maybe even a special Aunt. You spoiled me every time Mom would come for coffee. You'd take me to find a soda or a special treat. You almost always had a pie or some freshly made yummy to go with your coffee. I'd sit with you while you chatted, or I'd play with Heidi, Digger, and then Shady Lady!! You made us laugh every time you licked the plate. You never let a bit of the yummys go to waste! When your hot flashes started, it wasn't unusual for you to be at our house and rip your shirt off or run outside in the cold! You made the sun shine, you gave us belly laughs. As one of "Mony's Croney's", as Shelly liked you call you, Mom had years of love and laughter with her friends. While her memory has faded, it lives on in other ways. You were beyond special. You will always hold a piece of my heart. So much love!!
