The son of Henry and Jane (nee Campbell) Kyle, Jack was born January 24, 1926, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He spent most of his youth in New York City.
A proud World War II veteran, Jack volunteered at 18 and served as a guard and a radio operator. Thanks to the GI bill, he earned a BA and MA in Marketing from Pace College (now University). There, he met his wife through the drama club. Jack continued acting and directing and remained a lifelong theater aficionado.
The couple married September 16, 1950, at Ascension Resurrection Roman Catholic Church in Rego Park, Queens. They began their family in Brooklyn, New York before moving to Cresskill, New Jersey.
Jack eventually created Sixplus Enterprises, a business that specialized in delivering books to schools. He then returned to being a publishing executive during the mid-1980s, when he took a position with the educational publisher Grolier. Having moved to Woodbury, Connecticut for work, in 1992 he and his wife retired to the
Englewood, Florida area. In the weeks before his death, Jack commented that it was one of the best decisions he ever made. There, they belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and Jack played in doubles tennis leagues into his 90s.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Catherine “Kitty” nee Taormina. He is survived by six children, John (Ann) Kyle, Jody (James) Hurst, Jayne (Wade) Lillegard, Francine (Eugene) Zaggia, Michael Kyle and Kathryn Kyle; eight grandchildren, Kyle Hurst, Kelly Hurst, James (Rachel) Hurst, Robert (Alicia) Lillegard, Kathryn (Kent) Nichols, Michael (Christine) Lillegard, Christina (Bryan Guerrieri) and Christopher Zaggia; and six great-grandchildren, James Liam and Quinn Hurst, Ruby and Mercedes Lillegard, and Coralie and Dahlia Nichols; many other relatives and friends including his dear friend, Jo Russo.
