John, known to many as Jack born in Jersey City on June 22, 1942 passed away on Friday, June 28th, 2019. He attended St. Michael’s where he graduated from in 1960. After attending Fairleigh Dickinson he was employed by the Colgate Company and had a long and successful career with Hoffman La Roche in Nutley, NJ
John “Jack” moved to North Arlington in 1969 where he was elected councilman in 1976 and reelected in 1980. During his council term he served as Police Commissioner where he was an avid supporter of the NAPD.
In 1984, John married Loretta Russo. The couple lived in Nutley and Bayville, NJ before relocating to Rotunda West, Florida. He and Loretta were inseparable from the moment they met, right down to till the moment he passed. John enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, and cooking He could recite nearly as many recipes as he could Frank Sinatra songs. He is survived by his wife Loretta of 35 years, sister Donna, daughter Toniann and her husband Rossi Palmieri, son John and six grandchildren, Alexa, Vincent, Christopher, John, Luke and Keira
John was magnetic, vivacious, assertive and often opinionated. Those who were fortunate enough to share in his life never had to question what was on his mind. Full of life with a contagious smile that made even those he had just met comfortable, he made friends wherever he went. Often surrounded by friends but was happiest in the company of his children and grandchildren. John was admired by many, loved by more and will be missed by all.
Honoring John’s wishes, he will be cremated and then the family will hold memorial services in mid to late July. First in Florida and then in New Jersey. The dates are still being determined and once the details have been finalized they will be shared by family.
