Marilyn was born Marilyn Dorothy Green on April 9, 1931, the second of 5 children of Samuel and Dorothy Green of Rochester, New York. She was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings, Sam, Dottie, Fred, and Mari and all their spouses. Marilyn also survived Frank, the father of her children, niece Kathy, nephew Timmy and beloved grandson Jonathan. Her spirit lives on with her children and their spouses: Sharon(Debby), Wanda(Larry) and Frank(Michele). Whether by blood, marriage or devotion she cherished 11 grandchildren including the ones she held from birth: Frank Jr., Natalia, Nick, Katherine, Katie, and Nathan. More joy was added with 12 great-grandchildren as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, including her godchild Michele. A child of the Great Depression, her frugality would not condone the expense of listing so many names here…you know who you are and are all important in the wonderful and complex fabric of a family. There are many tatters, a few holes, some fading hues, but strong threads.
Marilyn was a nightbird. She often got revved up around 10pm for either a lesson on making spaghetti sauce or painting a sunset. She instructed one grandchild “Just paint. Don’t try to make it perfect!”
A Service of Remembrance will be January 24th at 6pm, Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home at 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, Fl. 34293. Marilyn loved gardening and flowers, but in lieu of flowers for her service bring some home for your family or to someone who cannot travel out anymore.
And if you like, craft a chocolate martini and toast to a long life, well lived. Cheers Marilyn.
