Roy Abbott Hamp (Bunky), 74, of Rotonda West, FL, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019. He was born on August 19, 1944, in Baltimore, MD. He later joined the Army and was stationed in Cleveland, OH, where he met and married Mary Ann Mulh on April 24, 1965. He was a police officer for the Highland Hts. police department in Ohio for ten years. They started a family and then relocated to Rotonda West, FL in August of 1977. Roy worked for Gulf Interstate at the oil terminal on Boca Grande for 19 years before their closing. He finished his career and retired from Charlotte County Parks and Recreation.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann Hamp, his son John J. Hamp (Teri), and daugthers MaryBeth Litsey (Chris, deceased), Carol Hamp-Robejsek (Tim), and Heather Mosher. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Hamp Williams and neices and nephew, Carla, Patti and Jimmy. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Alden, Andrew, Alex, Royanna and Cassidy and his great granddaughter, Brooke. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marguerite Hamp and James Hamp. He also leaves behind his faithful and loyal companion Baxter, his beloved Beagle.
There will be no local services. The family will be holding a private, out of state service at a later date. However, family and friends are welcome to pay their respects to the family on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Hamp residence between the hours of 11:00am to 7:00pm.
