Steven Samuels, 77, of Englewood, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 7th. He was born in Union City, Indiana in October 1944 to the late Paul and Juliann Samuels, and is survived by his son Scott, and daughter-in-law Kim. He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, Patricia, until her passing in 2021. Steve earned Eagle Scout, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ball State University, and served in the Army from 1967-1969. While stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, he and Pat enjoyed traveling through several European countries. His professional career included over 30 years with Federated Department Stores, retiring as the Director of Operations at Macy’s. He and Pat retired to Englewood in 2000, where he earned his Captains license, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of fishing and passion for the local waters with his charter clients. He served on several Boards throughout his career, including the Englewood Area Planning Advisory Board, and over 17 years with the Englewood Water District, where he served as both Chairman and Vice-Chairman in various years. Steve was very connected to Englewood, having spent most of his childhood summers with family in the area, and continued visiting with his family until having the opportunity to retire in the community. He and Pat enjoyed traveling in their RV, having driven to every state (except Hawaii), and more recently spending time in Oregon and Western Colorado. Because of the current Covid outbreaks, we will postpone any celebration services.
