To: Marlene and Terry Pinsky

My Dear Old Friends Marlene and Terry,

This is a voice from the past, Larry Ran. I was so saddened yesterday to read about your beloved Bruce’s passing. My wife, Linda and I, have been living here since September, having moved up from Florida, where we lived for twenty years.

I have a poetry site on Cosmofunnel.com, and am a daily contributor. I remembered an amusing story about your brother and me, and decided to turn it into a poem. We have just posted it on our site, which attracts readers from all over the World. I am enclosing a copy of it, hoping that it will bring you and Marlene some solace.

If you are sitting Shiva, we would very much like to come.

All our love,
Linda and Larry

Tears For My Old Friend Bruce

Now living back in Dayton, Ohio, having left in nineteen seventy-three;
I’m in the city where I grew up, so many friends I’ve yet to see!
Today while reading the Sunday paper, a sad Obituary caught my eyes;
For my good old friend Bruce Pinsky, so sadly has just died!
.
He was the brother of my buddy Terry, the exact same age as me;
He had a hot red Stingray Corvette, and with it goes this story!
One day he picked me up at home, made a few turns to Catalpa Drive;
Then he tromped down on the gas pedal, in seconds, we hit ninety-five!
.
Then he downshifted rather quickly, to make the four-way stop ahead;
I said, “Bruce, you are a wild man”, but my cravings, he had fed!
So I lobbied for my parents, to purchase one for me;
To trade in my 1960 Belvedere, so a Stingray man I’d be!
.
I got them to go to McCloskey’s, our Chevrolet dealer place;
They even asked about the best price, my heart began to race!
But they decided to get me a Bel Air, so much to my dismay;
I will never forget Bruce Pinsky, and that most exhilarating day!
.
My friend Bruce Pinsky
Gave me the ride of my life
I’ll ne’er forget him
