Clyde Daniel Smith

SMITH, Clyde Daniel 91 of West Milton, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 22, 2017. Clyde leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 52 years Joan (nee Wehner) Smith, three daughters and one son-in-law Karen and Jeffery Sowers of Laura, Caroline Erwin of Troy, Paula Smith of West Milton; two sons and daughters-in-law Dennis and Kimberly Smith of FL, Patrick and Andi Smith of TN; 14 grandchildren Heather, Shane,Katherine, Joe, Tony, Jessica, Kyle, Jennifer, Natasha, Nicolas, Lacey, Robert, Vincent, Emily; 13 great-grandchildren Kristin, Jimmy, Brandon, Noah, Meghan, Konner, Brennen, Benjamin, Alexis, Oliver, Madalyn, William, Alanna. Also surviving are one brother and sister-in-law Michael and Deloris Smith of TX, several nieces and nephews. Clyde was proud veteran serving in the US Army during WW II, Korea and Viet Nam, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1967 and was member of the Order of the Purple Heart, Arcom, Good Conduct Medal, WW II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Korean Service Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, Korean Republic Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon. He was a Life member & past Commander and held all of the offices at different times at the West Milton American Legion Post 487, was a member of VFW Elliott Mote Post 8211 and had also retired from the Dayton Post Office and was member of the Church of the Transfiguration Catholic Church. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends, Friday, April 28, 2017 at the CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGURATION, 972 South Miami Street, West Milton, Ohio 45383 starting at 10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 with Fr. Eric Bowman celebrant. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the Tobias Funeral Home Englewood Ohio Chapel.
