LEE, Garnett Jackson, 80 of Clayton, “The luckiest guy I know” has headed home to meet his bride, Betty Lou who preceded him in meeting the Lord in October of 2011 after 54 years of marriage. Garnett was born in Shelbyville, KY April 18, 1938 an only child. After the death of his father, a sharecropper, he and his mother moved to Dayton, OH. His mother remarried her sweetheart from The Kentucky School for the Deaf and raised Garnett fluent in sign language.He began work at the age of 6 at Frankie's Forest Park leading ponies, and worked every day until he retired at age 65 from the City of Dayton, after 26 years of service to the community. Garnett was also an Air National Guard Veteran and attended Salem Church of God. Garnett never met a dog he didn't like, a sailboat he couldn't sail, and a kite that wouldn't fly. But above all things, he loved to be with his family. He was preceded by: his parents Jessie Thomas Lee, Edward & Rosa Bell (Rogers) Clements, father and mother-in-law Fred & Mona Knipp, brother and sisters-in-law David, Effie and Donna Knipp, Glenna Knipp, Brenda Hackworth, Tom Barton; son-in-law Brian Kooser; nephews Jason and Timothy John Knipp; granddaughter-in-law Lillie Brotherton; great-nephew Aydon Satterfield. Garnett was a loving father and leaves to cherish his memory five children, Robert & Jeanetta Lee, Richard & Cindee Lee, Ginger Kooser, Russell & Mary Lee, John & Kim Lee. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, Jenny Lee & Kevin Schultz, Joshua & Samantha Lee, Lindsey Lee, Randall Lee & Julie Henry, Richard A. Lee, Rachel Lee & Jacob Blanton, Eddie Stidham & Heather Barnes, Angela Williams, Emily & Ryan Adams, Steven Brotherton, Thomas Brotherton, Anthony Kooser, Benjamin Lee, Russell D. Lee, Windy Lee, Mary K. & Brandon Goulette, Crystal Lee, Chelsea Lee, Zachary & Samantha Lee; 25 great-grandchildren, Shanti, Jack & David Kochar, Bennett, Elliott & Garrett Lee, Kason & Fiona Lee, Kadence Lee, Elise & Jacob Blanton, Jordan Stidham, Aurora Brotherton, Savannah Goulette, Jordan Thacker, Patience & Faith Hagerty, Lexi, Layla & Marcus Tipton, Raiden Trusty-Lee, Zander Lee, Shelby & James III Moore, James Jones; 15 brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin & Arnetta Knipp, Homer Knipp, Fred & Karen Knipp, Peggy & Eddie Hill, Glenna & Wallace Rice, John Hackworth, Alva & Carol Knipp, Timothy & Carolyn Knipp, Thomas & Cindy Knipp, Philip Knipp, Debra Barton, Sabra & Trace Steele, Jean Knipp, Jane & Patrick Whitt, James & Betty Davis Knipp; countless friends, co-workers and extended family. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, April 19, 2019 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, 675 West Wenger Road starting at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Garnett’s life at 12:00 pm with Pastor Richard Triplett presiding.
