THORPE, James M. “Jim”, age 81 of Kettering, passed from this life on Sunday, September 23, 2018. A Kentucky native, proud of his heritage and his Kentucky Colonel Commission. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy; parents, Elbert and Suzie Thorpe; sisters Mildred Spelski, Jackie Kintz, Dovie Cornett, Sue Strong, and Verda Strong. Jim is survived by his wife, Annie Lobo Thorpe; sons, Roger (Diane) Thorpe, Jack (Jackie) Thorpe, and Joe (Kimberly) Thorpe; daughter, Amy Thorpe; six grandchildren, Joey Thorpe, Jennifer (Shaun) Starbuck, Sarah (Dave) Anderson, Jessica Thorpe, Jillian Thorpe, Marietta (Carl) Cole; six great grandchildren, Ethan Starbuck, Madeline Starbuck, Mason Starbuck, Logan Elsea, Brody Anderson, and James Heffner; and two sisters Mary Carpenter and Joetta Newland. Jim worked for N.C.R. and retired from Delco Moraine. Later he was the proud owner of Archway Camp Ground with his first wife. Jim was a member of Memorial Church, Masonic Lodge #107 F & AM, Scottish Rite, Antioch Shrine, where he was involved in many clubs and many offices, most proudly the Marching Patrol and Antioch Kentucky Colonels, plus transporting children to Lexington, Cincinnati and Chicago Hospitals. He was also a member of the Union VFW #5434 Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, with masonic services. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at the funeral home. Private graveside at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Jim was truly a SHRINER'S SHRINER with all the good deeds and things he did for Antioch Shrine, Shriner's Children's Hospital's and Shriner's International over the many year's. He will be missed by all who knew him.
