HARNISH, Juanita Mae age 87, of Englewood, formerly of Dayton, passed into the arms of Jesus on December 4, 2013. She is the beloved wife of the late PGA golf pro, William Earl Harnish; cherished mother of Terrance (Cheryl) Harnish, Deborah (Tom) Dunipace, Bruce (Linda) Harnish, and Anita Harnish; loving grandmother of Valerie (Paul) Wonderly, Zachary Harnish, Seth (Miya) Dunipace, Alex (Stacy) Harnish, Miranda Harnish and Allison Harnish; proud great grandmother to Anderson, Gavin, Greyson, Gus and Hal; survived by all her siblings Phoebe (Young), Madeline (Apwisch), Yvonne (Wages), Dan, Mary (Neher), Bob and Glenn, along with many nieces and nephews. Juanita was born on May 1, 1926 to Ben and Treva Timmons on a dairy farm in Darke County, Ohio. After graduating from New Madison High School she enrolled in the RN program of Miami Valley School of Nursing. While working on her degree she met and wed her husband, Bill, in 1947. She graduated from the nursing program in 1948. In conjunction with raising four children and managing a household she periodically worked evenings at the hospital, volunteered as a school nurse and volunteered at a summer camp for the developmentally delayed. During the summer months she provided supervision for her husband’s family business, Bill Harnish’s Golf Driving Range in Vandalia. A deep commitment to family was displayed with frequent Sunday gatherings at her parents’ farm, surrounded with siblings, nieces and nephews. Upon the tragic death of her husband in 1968 she returned to nursing. Juanita worked part-time in the support pool, transitioning to fulltime in 1971 in the Med/Surg Clinic at MVH. She was a first responder to the 1974 Xenia tornado. She managed an AIDS clinic, administering medication at the onslaught of the epidemic. She served as clinic manager at MVH until her retirement in 1994, worked part-time until 2006, and volunteered until 2008, finally turning in her badge at the age of 82. She will be remembered for her loving and caring nature, her commitment to service, her attention to detail, her enjoyment of music, song and dance, especially line dancing. She loved laughter and relished spending time with her family. She was a long-time member of Trotwood Church of the Brethren. Family will receive friends Friday, December 13, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME, 675 West Wenger Road, Englewood, Ohio 45322. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 14, at 11:00 a.m. at TROTWOOD CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, located at 208 East Main Street, Trotwood, Ohio 45426. Burial will be private at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
