ZEA, Virginia Thatcher 86, of Brookville, Ohio, born, January 11, 1932, Urbana, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Her parents Chester Rosco Thatcher and Edna Crummie, beloved Great Aunt Verna (Les) Herdman, and her husband, John Nelson Zea preceded her in death. Her three daughters Belinda (Chris) Vallo of Vandalia, Dr. Bonnie (Dr. Edward) Dean of Billings, Montana and Betty Zea (Doug Bosworth) of Cincinnati; grandchildren Lauren (Tim) Laker, Ryan Vallo, Gavin Dean, Austin (Arielle) Dean, Mike (Vivian) Dean, Peter, John and Douglas Bosworth; and great-grandchildren, Madeleine Laker, Diego and Vivian Dean, survive her. Virginia attended Urbana High School where she played clarinet in the marching band. Thereafter, she attended Bowling Green State University and Miami Jacobs Business School. She worked as secretary for Dayton Hard Chrome Company and as a homemaker. She volunteered at church and was an avid bridge player. As an accomplished golfer, she won 10 Club Championships at Kittyhawk Golf Center and scored a coveted hole-in-one in her golfing career. Bonnie proudly displays Virginia’s original Persimmon woods and golf history. Despite multiple and continued efforts, Bonnie beat her at golf only once. Virginia gathered close friends wherever she went: Urbana HS, Grace United Methodist Church, Christopher Avenue where the girls lived their formative years, Florrel Crest Lane, Kittyhawk Golf Center, Meadowbrook Country Club, and most recently, the warm and welcoming community of Brookhaven. A celebration memorial service will be held at GRACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1001 Harvard Boulevard, Dayton, Ohio, at 11 AM on Saturday, August 4th, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church and Hospice of Dayton. Virginia, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend: May the Light of God Surround You, May the Love of God Enfold You, May the Power of God Protect You, And the Wisdom of God Direct You, Amen. Arrangements entrusted to the Tobias Funeral Home Englewood Chapel. Messages of sympathy and support to Virginia’s family may be made at:
